Don Maciver Wins SACU Quad Support Championship
Team ATV World Yamaha rider Don Maciver sensationally won this year’s Scottish Adult Support Championships in what has only been his second year riding quads! Don from Inverness, Scotland took to the podium in all but two of the seven meetings with help from his race ready ATV World Yamaha YFZ450.
His season started well with a maximum 75 points taken from the first meeting at Cardenden on the 29th March. Don then went on to take second overall at round two, third in round three and another second in round four at Ardersier on the 24th May.
Round five took the championship to Duns where Don took fourth overall and continued to build on his unassailable lead. Taking second overall in round six, Don only need to cruise round the final meeting, taking enough points to ensure victory as he secured the 2009 SACU Scottish Quad Championships – Adult Support.
Don now faces his final race of the season, the last round of the QRS Championships which he currently holds a healthy point’s gap at the top. Another good performance could see Don taking the double in only his second season racing.
Don Maciver’s emphatic victory has been superb, says team manager Martin Fletcher. “Don has shown he has got what it takes and should now be ready to tackle the riders a championship level.” Don wishes to thank his Mum, Dad and girlfriend Gemma for helping out and supporting him at all the race meetings. Also a big thank you to Mechanic Murry who has kept the quad going at each meeting and ATV World for their excellent service, support and products!
Don now has a winter season of serious training to get ready for the 2010 Championships. His goal is to be within the top ten riders next year and with such a successful season behind him, there is no reason to doubt him. Congratulation Don.
Thanks also to the SACU, QRS and all clubs, tracks and organisers for their continued hard work in making these events so enjoyable for riders and spectators alike.
