Mitchell Extends Lead at Waggadon Farm
Paul Holmes Storms the Under 21’s Championship
Despite torrential rain on Saturday and Sunday Morning, round five of the CCM British MMX Quad Championships took place as planned. The track began to dry out and the racing got under way as current champion John Mitchell looked to extend his lead at the top of the leader board.

John had made a superb recovery after his crash two weeks ago. He had sustained a broken toe, fluid in his knee and aggravated his previous ankle injury. In race one, John was riding well on his ATV World Yamaha YFZ450 until he lost his front brakes early on.

He produced an amazing charge passing Ricky Tordoff twice but with the technical fault on the bike, had to concede. He held on and made an incredible sixth place finish. Paul Holmes, also riding on his ATV World Yamaha YFZ450 had gone off the track and fallen back one lap. Once he was facing forward, there was no going back as he worked his way up the pack from 28 th and finished strongly in 16 th. A superb recovery!

John Mitchell made a good start to race two, going fifth off the line he was riding well and began moving up the pack. He worked his way into third place behind Lindsey Duke, picking his moment he made the pass and moved onto Paul Winrow. John successfully passed Winrow and took first place. Meanwhile Paul Holmes was having a much improved second race taking seventh off the start line. Paul was riding hard and it paid off when he finally passed Carl Bunce to finish in fifth place.

John was very impressed with his quad, particularly the Elka suspension which was performing perfectly on the track. Paul Holmes commented “I couldn’t believe the power I was getting from the bike! Going up the hills particularly felt like I had one of the fastest machines on the track.”
It was another successful day for the ITP holeshot tyres, taking both wins of the day and the fastest qualifying time.

The first place finish keeps John Mitchell leading the Championship while Paul Holmes strong performance moves him to 10 th overall and 41 points ahead in the Under 21’s Championship. With the Pro class cancelled this weekend, the next race will be on July 15 th for round six of the CCM British MMX Quad Championships at Dean Moor, Cumbria. See you there!
