16th September 2007 / European Quadcross Championships round 4
Location: Germany

This weekend riders and teams headed to the German track of Rudersberg for the penultimate round of the European Quadcross Championships. With a well kept technical track and perfect weather the scene was set for a great weekend of racing.

On Saturday, British Champion and team ATV World Yamaha rider John Mitchell qualified in second place on his Yamaha YFZ450 with under 21 British Champion Paul Holmes making seventh.

It was John Mitchell who took the holeshot in race one and had pulled a gap of six seconds by lap two. John was riding well and extending his lead when the axle broke resulting in him having to guide his quad along the main road with a police escort to get back to the pits. The bad luck didn't stop there as Paul Holmes, riding in third place began experiencing electrical problems and was also forced out of the race. French man Roman Couprie took the win.

The quads were quickly repaired by the ATV World Yamaha team mechanics and ready for race two. It was Paul Holmes who took the holeshot this time with John following close behind until Paul went off the track allowing John to take the lead. John was in his element as he pulled away from the other riders and made it look easy, finishing a dominating 47 seconds in front!

Meanwhile, Paul Holmes was back on track and riding hard to fourth place, closing in on Jeremy Warnia. With less than 10 minutes left of the 36 minute race, Paul made the pass on Warnia and claimed the third spot.

With both ATV World Yamaha riders on the podium it turned out to be another successful Championship round. John is now 14 points clear at the top while Paul is third overall.

The fifth and last round will be held on 7th October 2007 in Castelnau de Levis, France - see you there!
