Tyler Wins 2009 North East ACU 250cc Open Championship
Norfolk's ATV World youth rider Tyler Soar took the North East ACU 250cc open championship crown this weekend at Wooley Grange County Durham.
It was frustrating to watch as Tyler kept himself safe in the top three with a more sedate than normal pace which would bring him home the championship win. With 26 points lead a no mean feat when you consider he had a 30 point deficit at the beginning of the season he only needed to finish each race, but couldn't afford a DNF (did not finish) so the safe ride was opted for.
Tyler desperately wanted to finish on a high with another overall first, but new that one mistake on the very one line track and a repeat of his bad luck last weekend at Culham in Oxford where he snapped a track rod end could spoil this season’s hard work. Tyler finished the day with a second overall but the championship safe in the bag, it was as much a relief when final chequered flag dropped to his dad and mechanic Jed who watched last weeks disappointment unfold and said "me and his mum were on tenterhooks with every race, it was frustrating not to see him go for the win, but today is for the championship and not for glory on the day".
Next weekend sees the pressure back on at Wroxton Oxfordshire where Tyler will campaign one of two of the final rounds of the ACU Southern area championship which he leads by 21 points.
