John Mitchell Dominates the British Championship Round Three
John Mitchell dominated the third round of the Honda QRA ACU British Quad Championship on Friday 29th June at Tinker Hill Motocross Track, Newry, Northern Ireland. Making the journey from the UK mainland was Team ATV World/ Yamaha with John's bikes that have helped him command the championship from the front at every race. With just a wash down and some minor adjustments from round 2, the bikes were ready for the challenging track.
John made good progress through the qualifying session to start at the front of the line. The qualifying timing caused widespread confusion as incorrect transponder readings brought chaos to qualifying. Our own transponder had John leading by a massive 2.4 seconds!? Race one was red flagged during the second lap after a collision between a number of riders. The incident caused injuries to Lindsey Duke and David Hammersley and was subsequently restarted. In race one John was fourth into the first corner but quickly made ground on the leaders with an impressive display of technical passing and aggressive flare.
As other bikes found the track too demanding, the team ATV World/Yamaha YFZ450 had no problems, set-up was perfect and it showed! John made a comfortable gap between himself and second place man Paul Winrow winning his fifth race of the season.
Race two began in the searing afternoon heat. John took the holeshot and never looked back. Having now won 6 out of 6 races he has imposed a massive lead in the championship with a staggering 150 maximum points.
Thanks again for all the support from sponsors who along with thier outstanding products have helped make this possible.
