John Mitchell held yet another impressive display this weekend as the British Championships entered into round 5. With temperatures reaching into the thirties it was going to be an exhausting weekend for everyone. Having already won every single previous race this season, John was undoubtedly favourite for another double win.
Race one began badly as John got caught up in traffic but his sights were firmly set on the top position. By the first lap he was down in 18th place and boxed in. His determination to succeed began to show as he was lapping 3 seconds faster than anybody else, quickly catching the lead two and was preparing to pass when the race was stopped after 7 laps due to an air ambulance landing for a previous track incident involving Glyn Thomas (we wish him all the best). As it stood, John took the third place for race one and was eager to get straight into race two and restore his winning ways.
Race two began in similar fashion to race one and John had to dismount and remove a stone from his front wheel! This left him more than a minute behind the leading pack who by now had disappeared into the distance. John remounted and began to chase, quickly catching up and overtaking in an awesome, breathtaking display showing why he has been unstoppable this season. The race commentator announced it was the most exciting race he had seen for a long time and as John took the lead, oxygen was being administered to the enthusiastic commentator. John went on to win the race with over a 22 second lead. Not quite making the double win this weekend but John Mitchell was in a class of his own, now with a 47 point lead in the championship.
Congratulations to number 26 Ingo Ten Vregelarr, the flying Dutchman who took third place in race 2 on his W-Tec.
Thanks again for all the support from sponsors who along with their outstanding products have helped John reach an unprecedented 9 out of 10 wins this season.
